today i tried to change the fuel pump sending unit but the quick release connection at the tank was all rusted and had to use picks to pull the spring retainer out of the fitting in the process i deformed the fitting, now it won't fit on to the hard line coming from the pump. need to get the truck up and running asap would be willing to get a new line from the pump to the filter or just to replace the fitting. i have tried searching the site and the web for info but can't find anything

please help

Could you cut off the quick release and attached line, then substitute a length of high pressure rubber hose (double clamped)?

I have a mechanic buddy that has a repair kit from NAPA, he can replace pieces of those quick connectors and hard plastic lines...

Not factory, but it will work fine. Just make sure the rubber line is rated for fuel injected systems, not carburators. Much higher pressures.

thanks for the idea i will see what i can come up with from my local napa

If the retainer is a round steel one that has a split in it and has like 4 fingers, you can go to ford and get a new one. should be less than $10.

i had to get a whole new line from ford because the round end was egg shaped from trying to get it's rusty end separated from the pump connection
