Hi All,

Thanks for all the great info that you have put together on this site, hopefully I will become knowledgable enough to contribute in future.

Truck has run great for the two years that I have had it, have replaced a lot of suspension parts, and front wheel hubs (roads are murderous). The shocks were shot from the roads over here, and replaced the full set of them. After I replaced them the truck felt great, but started to lose power after driving for a while. This has gotten worse and now can only drive a very short way(5Km) before she does not want to go anymore, if put my foot on the gas it feels like she awants to stall and some times does. When it cools down it starts up fine and runs good until it reaches tempreature.

I filled up the other day and noticed that the fuel fill was leaking fuel. Had a look and the fuel fill line has rubbed through.

My question is this:can the fact that air is getting into my tank cause this.
Is there a way to seal this pipe to check?

If it is not the fill I suspect fuel delivery, is there a way to get the fuel hose off wthout the tool, not a chance of having one over here(an small pipe cut in half or something similar). I sspect that the filter, and sock of pump could well be quite clogged after 2 years over here. I will go ahead and order parts for this.

Thanks for your help in advance, it is quite difficult getting things done over this side of the world as not a whole heap of resources(although the weather is good and so is the fishing).

Regards

Classics symptoms of a clogged catalytic converter, runs ok cold, looses power as it warms up.

Problem Solved I think

Hi,

After much messing around, and knowing that I have a hole in the fuel fill hose I decided to take a look inside the fuel tank. Cut an access hole, and removed the pump to say it was clogged with mud would be an understatement. I suppose that the reason the car was running; then progressively getting worse was that as I drove more and more particles where clogging the sock to a point where the engine was getting starved of fuel. After sitting for a while all settled again and some fuel would be allowed through that is my theory.

Cleaned the fuel pump 'sock', dropped the tank to clean it out, changed the fuel filter, filled up the hole in the fuel fill and seems to be running well again.

Thanks for the response I did receive.

Make sure to change your fuel filter too, I'm sure it's filled up as well
