funny smell..........

hello everyone.i have a 93 ex.ive had it for about a month now.i get a funny smell from the air ducts when driving.its like light oil/exhuast type of smell.i decided to try and clean the engine area.my steering fluid leaked at one time becuase the mech,didnt put the cap on the right way.so i figurede that could have cuased it.when i looked under the hood.i found old dirt build up everywhere.i looked like the damn thing wasnt cleaned for ten years.i did the best i could but to my dismay it didnt get the smello to go away.i turned on the AC for the first time and a bunch of dust came out of the ducts.can anyone give me some advice on what to look for?the smell is quit bothersome.also when i hit a bump on the road i get a knocking sound coming from the steering wheel.i feel it.like something moves when i hit a bump.i dont have any trouble steering,but the noise does get me nervous.has anyone experiance this before?thanks in advance.

As for the bump in the steering, make sure everything is tight. Jack up the truck and place it on secure jackstands, then wiggle the wheels. Report back.

Also, do a search for different front end problems - at least one person or another has had every problem imaginable with their front suspension - and fixed it with the help of the board.
