Been going thru past posts concerning the Gabriel VST shocks which I'd like to put on my '92 XLT. These shocks have been referred to as "Pro Ryder" w/VST. I went to Autozone and bought a set for 18.99 each. The box reads "Gas Ryder" LT w/VST, not "Pro Ryder" as mentioned for the Pep Boys install. The Gabriel website lists the part numbers for my XLT as G63608 & G63607. These shocks are white in color. Pep Boys lists different part numbers (T60162&T60161). Don't know what color they are. Are these shocks the same?? Would appreciate your comments-thanks all.

I purchased my rear shocks from PEP Boy's (they did not have the fronts on hand) They were white (the "G" series). I went to Auto Zone to get the fronts, which were black the "T" series). I asked the Auto Zone rep what the difference was between the two, his reply was marketing between different distributors?
For any one reading these posts, I have an additional question. When I removed my OEM shocks I also removed the rubber bushing (more like a bumper) from the upper mount. I noticed that the bushings that came with the Gabriel shocks were not as beefy. I also believe that is why I tend to feel vibration whenever I hit a bump. Sometimes it shakes the vehicle side to side. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Would it be worth purchasing these bumpers from Ford?

Joe, I'm pretty sure Sears sells the Gabriels too, and under a different name that AutoZone or Pep Boys even, no telling how many other places too. That stuff happens a lot. With shocks, tires, oil, filters, heck even mattresses, washers & dryers, you name it. Retailers want us to think they have an exclusive on a product so they have the manufacturer change the name/color/etc.

When I worked for Sears we unloaded the Diehard batteries off the same Johnson Controls truck that had Interstate batteries on it. On shocks and tires they just slap Sears Roadhandler on it and sell it as their own.

I just bought a set of Gabiel VST's at Discount Auto, 17.95 each. I'm going to be putting them in this weekend, I'll let you know how they work out.. Dead Link Removed
