GAS PRICE SPIKE!!!????? important read everyone!!

NOT SURE IF ITS TRUE GUYS!
but due to todays tragic happenings... my dad came home today and told me that gas was going to be..... $5.00 a gallon later today in our area...currently its $1.52 per gallon

can anyone confirm this gas price spike??
this afternoon it rose at one gas station i saw...
only to $1.89 then returned to $1.52 after a few hours.

IS GAS GOING TO RISE DRAMITACALLY???!!!

I don't think there is too much to worry about. Although a client of mine, a large gas distributor in the Northeast, said gas prices were going to spike $.25 tomorrow, Opec has promised to keep gas and oil supplies at the level needed by the world economy.

I find this last item very interesting. As much as a condemnation of the evil act as we can expect I guess.

I work at a gas station...

Since I work at a gas station and also have a cousin that drives a tanker that hauls gas to stations, I have a little info on this.

Our gas supplier has called the store and informed us to fill our holding tanks now and prepare for a price increase next time.
My cousin has also been told that everyone has to work overtime tonight to get gas to all of the stations.

This seems to me as a type of 'stock up now while its cheap' deal. The next time we get a gas shipment, we expect the price to be considerably higher. That's all I know. I do suggest filling up all of your vehicles tonight though just in case. Better safe than sorry.

I'm sure there's been enough of the "I've just heard" going around, but this is what I've heard.

OK, KS, MO and other states' governers have stated that there is no gas shortage and to report any station that is price gouging to them and they will take corrective action.

But now that a "rumor" or whatever has spread like wild fire that there very well may be a small shortage due to haste reactions.

i think that if we panic we will bring a gas shortage upon ourselfs.

it probably will rise...some places more than others.

it will be intresting to see what happens

I just filled up my tank... Prices at stations who were not waiting to raise prices before they empty their tanks had spiked about $.30 already, rumored to go up higher tomorrow. Friends in Detroit say they have paid nearly $4 for a gallon.

News said inlight of todays tragedy, crude oil costs jumped about 5 dollars per barrel... Thank goodness I don't have a vehicle to drive while at school

Excuse my ignorance, but what exactly does the 'bombing' of buildings in New York have to do with the price of gas? I can appreciate that what happened is a horrible tragedy, but I think the connection is hype.

this is what I think. It doesnt reflect the views of others. i think it leads to pointing of fingers at other people and well. i think the US is pointing at the middle east. and if my memory serves me right, the middle east is our supplier of gas. and i think they might try to spike the prices in order to protect themselves or whatever.

i hope it doesnt jump.
if it does, i think it will only be a temporary increase.
and i think the panic buying (buying all you can now before the price jumps) is most likely what will cause any shortage...

just my opinions (i have no facts to back me up, so dont respond saying that i'm wrong. because i probably am wrong)

the sign at the station said $1.37, but when i finally got to the pump it was $1.49.. spoke with my bro and he said the radio is announcing $5.00 a gallon near Corpus Christi Tx. and $3.00 near -by...a friend called his dad there and he confirmed it...Only time will tell...
But more important than that.Will there be a "cold war"?
