Hey Guys,
Im having an issue when filling my explorer up with gas lately. The past 5 or 6 times ive gotten gas (all it different stations) ive had problems keeping the pump on consistently. It seems to be popping off every 2 seconds even if the tank is almost empty unless I put it in at a very specific angle. This never happened before and my dad mentioned to me that he had this problem once before on a different car and it was some sort of vent in the filler line but he isnt sure. Has anybody seen/experienced something like this before?

Thanks, Jason

Well either the pressure is building up inside so much that it's causing the valve thing-a-ma-bob inside of the gas pump nozzle or somebody put something in the filler neck. If you look inside the nozzle, you'll see the dohickey I'm talking about.

just don't put the nozzle all the way in , i can't do that on mine either, ,

The common solution is to remove the breather line that runs parallel with the filler tube and inspect it for blockage. While you have this line disconnected, take a metal coat hanger, straighten it out, and insert it into the fuel tank through the breather line's port. Some tanks have a valve on the breather port that sometimes gets stuck in the closed position.
