Don't get me started on gas prices lately. I've been driving like a 100 year old blind, paranoid man and can't get above 17 mpg in the city. Makes me wonder how the so-called "hyper-milers" do it. I coast at every occasion, 0-40mph times in the upper 20s (serious) and I only give it enough gas to coast to the top of a hill. Not sure what else I can do. Always somebody on my butt in one-laner but they're not paying for my gas.

Does your gas have ethanol? I think you said it did in an earlier post. The mileage on my 02 EB sucks with 10% ethanol vs the pure stuff, about 1-2 mpg difference.

17 in the city is pretty good. Maybe switch to full synthetic 5W20 and you may pick up 1 MPG.

That is strange to me. With my 08 I am getting 17.5 or so city driving. Summertime I get over 19 when we ditch the winter blend. Maybe you are being a little "too easy" on it.

One of the best accessories I ever bought was a ScanGauge. Shows mileage in realtime, helps you learn what practice saves gas. On a trip to Maine I averaged 29mpg on my 2004 V6 Escape and I wasn't holding anyone up. I think the '11 X has something similar built in, maybe not.

If it makes you guys feel better, the dash says I'm averaging 11 MPG.
