Just a regular grinder with a thin grinding disk. A dremel would be perfect. There is really no need for a template.

WOW, you have balls of steel dude! A GRINDING WHEEL right next to the GAS TANK????? Please tell me I'm missing something obvious!

Yep. Very carefull hands thats what you are missing. We have done three and will do it again. It is easy and simple. There is a gap between the tank and body. You dont let the grinding wheel get lower than the metal. If using a dremel you will not be able to touch the tank with a small disk.

Outstanding idea Burns, and you're right, I'm probably not capable of being THAT careful, LOL... Dremel makes more sense to me. Thanks for the ideas, sure sounds easier than dropping the tank.

Mike

i did the same but with a torch...Jack Daniels can be a very persuasive man......

We had it out once before to replace the pump. I just bought the pump cause the rest worked. After that the float developed some holes so it had to come out again. So we got the idea to cut it. There is no wireing but where it connects to the pump unit. There is some running in the frame but you would have to mess up really bad and cut throught the frame to get them.

Could you please post a better quality picture? The resolution in that one is so horrible that I cant even see what is going on.:exp:

Wow is that mud or rust all over everything?

The fuel lines look very close.
The picture is misleading. They are farther away than they look.

Either those gas lines are insulated from the cold, or I have upgraded steel braided lines.

They are pretty close but they are not so close. i have one with the cover still off that we just did ill get a better pic of the lines tomm. you know whats good. We have beed good with three. You just have to be carefull and take plenty of time. If you try to rush it you might pressure to hard and clip the lines or the tank.

If you think you might mess up. DO NOT DO THIS.

Stock lines. Mud all over.

When i dont have to access the gas tank i have made a pannel that is removable to keep water and anthing elso out of the cab.

It reminds me of the access panel which is further ahead above the transmission. It was originally intended for the manuals, but it comes in handy for getting access to the modulator, and servos on the automatics.
