Like some others Explorers on this board my gas tank does not vent well and I have trouble filling it. A lot of times even if it's empty while filling it, it will click the pump off. So basically I have to fill it as much as I can and then for the rest of the tank fill it by making the gas pump as slow as it will go. Now annoying as that is not being able to fill my tank easily that's not my main concern. My main concern is calculating gas mileage accurately. My Explorer is supposed to have a 21 gallon tank like all 2nd gen 4drs. However using the slow fill method I have gotten up to 24.4 gallons in my tank and can consistently get over 23 gallons in my tank. Do I still just divide the miles by the number of gallons I put in? Even though it's not necessarily consistent the amount I put in each tank. Suggestions? Comments?
