Hey guys, just wondering what years gas tank can I use on a 92 Explorer XLT 4door?

Found one on summit for a 96, but just want to make sure it'll fit. Thanks for any help.

The tanks should be the same (19.3 gal) for a 91-94 and 95-96, but they did put in different ones (17.3 gal/20.8 gal) for the 98+ models. As long as it's a 19.3 gallon tank, it should be the right one.

95-96 they went to the metal tank and different fuel pump. Its not a direct swap.

Hmmmm. Well does anyone know where I can find a new gas tank from? Tried summit, but can only find one for the 96 lol

Any reason you need new? We have a for sale and wanted section here, you could get one from someone parting out for a lot less than new, and it'd be the OE tank as well.

Not really... Just need to find one soon. Mine is starting to get bad... At first I thought it was just a leak in the filler tube but it seams to be leaking somewhere from the tank itself.

Found this one on Summits site... Not sure itll work since its for a 96 though. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/RNB-576-182/

And I cant post in the classifieds section lol

You can post in the "Wanted" section, and you can post replies in the classifieds if you wanted to ask about someone parting out to ship the tank. There are a few first gens being parted out right now, the tank isn't a very common replacement item so they'd probably love to pull it and ship it to you. They'd probably even throw in the pump and everything else as well.

It's actually possible to repair the tank itself since it's plastic, you can get repair epoxy at most auto parts stores. It's supposed to be a permanent repair, but you could just use it in the meantime if you wantedto keep looking for a new tank just to be sure of no future leaks.

Hmm may just do that. Actually didn't even think about that. lol
