Hello all, as i am new here, i will say a few things about where i live and what i drive.
First to this site, great to find one about Explorers as there is not much in OZ.
I have a 1997 XLT auto and it's the best 4wd i have ever driven and would like to do her up a bit for traveling the outback.

We live in the riverland area in Loxton South Australia which is a dry area (no rain for ages) and like to find places that have green stuff on the ground to camp on and also some of that wet stuff to play in.

Thanks again for the forum Paul

Welcome to Explorer Forum! We can get you right. Lift, bigger tires, whatever your heart (and wallet) desires.

welcome paul

:salute::australia Welcome aboard!

There are a few other Ozzies on the forum. "Louise Canberra" with a 2003 XLT come to mind.

You can lift you '97 to make room for bigger tyres. (Not so for later Explorers with the independent rear suspension). A little bit of lift can be had simply by twisting the torsion bars up front an adding longer shackles in the back. Do a search and you will find lots of ideas. Then, you'll want dual batteries, fridge, Milford cargo barrier, winch, compressor....

Anyway, enjoy!

Bob

Thanks Guys
