Do any of you wish that the gear selection showed up on the display like it does for the F150? Since you cannot select a gear on the Explorer besides S...I sure wish I could see the gear I am in etc. With hill decent control you would think you can see it.

I also share the same sentiment.
All of my other vehicles with automatic gear selection (aka tiptronic, shifttronic etc...); displays the gear you are in.

I'm sure I've seen pictures of the gear shift modes in the dash display.

What exactly are you talking about?

What exactly are you talking about?

P R N D S display in the dash cluster. Actual gear display shows in left info display when in "S" mode.

He's referring to gears 1-6 being displayed when in sport mode and shifting with the paddles.

I think it shows on the left display when you choose to change gears with the paddle shifters if I remember correctly.

Yes that is what I am talking about...in my F150 the gears are ALWAYS showing on my dash so I know if I am in 6th or 5th etc. I know I have the select shift transmission with the F150 but was just missing that in the Explorer. I did not know they show when using the paddle shifting, I will have to see that. Wish that was an option to have up instead of the digital tach...or at least always showing gear position somewhere.

I would also like to see the gear all the time. Not sure why, but it would be nice. I know my wife's CX9 has it. In my '14 Sport, I can confirm that the gear position shows up when using the paddle shifters.

If it does then I wonder why they don't have it available as an option to show them all the time?

Curious to know the reason behind this. I don't have a sport model but, if I have mine in 'M', it automatically changes the left dash to rpm 'dial' with the shift number next to it.
Any other time, it doesn't show and feel no need to have it their. Point of preference, I guess. :D :salute:

Yep I tried we tried it last night and it is there...I am ok with that. The only real reason for me is I am just used to always seeing it there and got used to it.

Take a Valium and relax. You are getting all worked up over nothing.

I wish it was there too. No matter what display you choose, it automatically switches to the tach with the gear indicated when you hit the paddles. In D, when it goes back to "auto" mode, the gear indicator goes away. In S, it remains in manual mode when you use the paddle. This does work pretty well and that really is when you need to see it, but it would be nice if it was part of the selectable display. I have used the paddle in D just to get the display up to see what gear it was in because I was curious.

I agree it would be nice to feel to see it as a selectable option all the time.
