31's are not that much bigger then stock. I would assume that the stock gearing would be fine. If you go any larger you may want to consider changing them.
I have 31" MT's with 3.27's + a manual tranny (which according to the specs makes a difference in the lower gears). I can still pretty easily chip the tires/breake the loose with alittle work. The only place I notice a diffence is in 5th...it doesn't have quite as much umph, so passing tends to require down shifting more than it use to. Offroad I don't have much of a problem...but i'm usually in 1st gear. So far i've only had to use low range when climbing steep hills. Anyway that's my experience...you'll probably be ok
