gear selector adjustment

is there a way to adjust the gear selector? whenever im in park it says im in reverse and when im in drive it says im in 2nd.

Pull the plastic off the steering colum and there's an adjuster at the top right. Looks like a lil wheel. [Sorta like the volume controls on an old cd player]
