Hey I am currently running 3:55 gears with 31’s and doing ok.
However my new 33x10.5x16 (LT285/75R16) Trxus M/T and rims will be in soon. :D
My questions are these:
1)Do I have to change my gears? (no hwy driving)
2)If I do change my gears what do I use?
3)Do I assume that I have to change both front and rear gears?
4)Also what locker do you recommend to use? If I am changing my gears.

1) I would say you do want to change them. You don’t HAVE to, but it’s going to be a DOG and won’t do much. No hwy driving than...

2) Go with 4.56 for 33"s you will be MORE then happy. Yukon, Motive, and Precision gears are all good brands. I’ve used Motive and Precisian myself.

3) Yes you need to change both, if you plan on using 4wd.

4) The rear will be well off with no matter what you throw at it. If you do a lot of driving on the road, a TrueTrac is a good choice. Otherwise just go with a full automatic locker. Detroit Locker is good, if you’re on a budget look into Powertrax, or Aussie lockers. For the front, most would say a Selectable like ARB; I believe OX might have a locker available too. Some just go with a Limited slip, its all preference.

Yes i would have to agree, 4.56 is the way to go with 33's. I just did my gears as well and notice now that its exactly what i want for power! Im not sure of fuel milage yet but its a heck of alot better than the 3.55 stock gears i was running.
