getting Flowmaster 50 SUV installed this weekend

well, I got the Dual In/Dual Out 50 series SUV Flowmaster deliverd from Jegs yesterday and I have an appointment on Sat. moring to get the dual tailpipes made up. This is the same shop that built a custom 3" tailpipe for my Bronco a few years back, I am making a 3 hr. trip to get this done (don't live near there anymore), b/c nobody around here would attempt to make dual tailpipes for my X. I talked to them over the phone an explained how it is tight under there but I saw pics from a (this) website that it can be done, and they had a pretty good attitude about giving it a try. so wish me luck, I will report back when everything is (hopefully) installed.

you dont need to sacrifice your spare for it.. I have a flow50 on mine. dont expect any power gains tho.. exhaust does nothing for perf.. only sound.

exhaust does add horsepower....less restrictive.....but your engine does have to breath. it needs to inhale (intake) and exhale (exhaust) with only one you get half the benefit, but when i put my exhaust on there was a noticeable difference.

You will love this set up. I have the same muffler on mine with duals and you DO NOT have to give up the spare. There are pics of my pipes you can look at (or may have already looked at) in my sig. This is totally possible. Only problem is with so many bends you might get a slight vibration at certain RPM's so just ask them to put a few extra hangers in. Good luck and WE WANT PICS!!!

theres no such thing as a dud... there is a such thing as a "problem" however.. I'm just sayin, dont expect any HP gains, a simple exhaust system.. with no other mods, wont do anything for you, if you were to add perf. cats and headers and an intake it MIGHT help.. but alone..I doubt even 1hp gained from such.

Alec or someone straighten Darkfox out....i know that the exhaust does add horsepower many mechanics have told me that (not the ones at the muffler shop either) and i know first hand..it made a big diff for me at least.

Actually Darkfox is right. It does NOTHING besides noise. I believe that you hearing the noise of the engine makes you think that your going faster but your just doing the same speed but with more noise. I have already challenged anyone who has lots of money and time on their hands to go to the track and run it with a stock setup and then after with the performace exhaust. You will be lucky if there is a .01 speed increase.

When i had my motorcycle i added a slip on V & H exhaust. Damn you could hear me coming from a mile away but thats all it did. No performance at all.

My cat-back Gibson just came in today and i will be installing it on Tuesday after the holiday. I am not expecting any gain at all. Just wanted a little rumble from my V8.

Now if you have headers ... new cams ... and all the other stuff yes it most likely will make a difference. But if that is your only change and everything else is stock .... Bring your crying towel because you will be doign alot of crying on the way home.

well, I can't say 10000% that its no, but thats what I'm tryin to say, exhaust alone does nothing, it takes other mods to do things. I just took pics of my exhaust.. I'm not very happy with the work they did, or rather the wear its taken, get stainless.. aluminized is apaprently no good. rusts veryu quickly
