looks good  .. is this about that gear whine/noise in the front that uv posted about a while ago? or maybe it was some1 else that had that problem.

No, this is for my front differential i have been setting up this past week. But, yeah that was me with the gear whine. Still havent figured it out. But its not my rear differential, thats for sure. im 90% certin its the t-case. I wish i could find out for sure, but i have no real way of doing it...

Pattern looks pretty good to me...I'd go with it. How's the backlash?

Backlash is actually the very least of my worries! .006 at 2 of 4 spots around the ring gear. at one point it jumps to .008-.009. which is OK, i dont like it, but what you gonna do. Runout is .004.

I think the pinon is kinda deep. Its within spec, but its not perfect :thumbdwn: If you look closley, the pinion contacts the toe a little bit more then the rest of the teeth. There isnt much i can do with this because A) i only have a .002 shim in there! and B) That oil slingar on the pinion bearing is HUGE! the 8.8 doesnt have this part. I think im going to try and fix this before i put it all together for the last time. If i take out the .002 my depth JUMPS towards the heel. Im hoping that i can find a .001 shim, or my pinion depth will just turn out better once i set the pinion preload.

more opinions!

What kind of gears are they? Why are you getting different readings? On all the rear ends I've worked with they have been either 6 all away around, or 7 all away around, or 8 -- never 6 here, 7 here. Make sure your dial indicator is working properly.
