help me make the choice.

i'm going to be putting a 6 inch suspension lift on along with my 3 inch body lift. this will all be done next month along with 4.56's front and rear.

i know that i can fit 35's on but what do you guys think about putting some 36's on it? this truck only sees less than 5000 miles a year anyway and it's gonna be mostly trail miles from now on anyway. i'm looking at some 36x12.50 swamper tsl radials. i have another car that is my daily driver.

That will be a total of 9" of lift,
I think you can run 37's or even 38's if you want. Examine AlaskaJacks' thread about seeing the Explorer with 38's..

i'm gonna have to worry about passing pa state inspection when it comes to bumper height but if i put my stock 30's on for inspection then i should meet the bumper height requirement.

has anybody gone this high with that big a tire.?

If all goes to plan, I will have 10.5" of lift this summer not including tire lift, and I will be running 35's easy.... you should be fin, but might I suggest, if this is not a daily driver, go with the SS TSL Bias Ply tires.... MUCH better when wheeling.

what do you think would be better? 36's or 35's. i dont want to go bigger than 36's but since super swamper offers them in that size i might just grab them if i can fid a good price. i liked my 33" xterrains but since i'm going bigger i might as well get a really good tire then

Since your staying with the TTB, I wouldn't suggest goin over a 35" tires if you plan on wheeling a lot and doin some difficult stuff.... You could go with a 36" tire, but you would be a lot more likely to break u-joints and twist axle shafts, that sort of thing.... plus, by staying with 35's, you can get more flex before it rubs.

You can do it, I've seen one truck in my area with a 6" lift and a 3" body lift running 38s. I beleive DerrickC said he ran 38s and was eating up front end parts. You could probably get away with 36s they shouldnt be to much worse than 35s. Either way you're going to be going through some front end parts.

That probably still wont pass bumper height in PA. Measure it cause max in PA is 27 front 29 rear for an xlt. the xlt is just barely over 5000 lbs gross.
