Hey all, started looking around for front and rear differentials with 4.10 gears and traction loc. First stop was my local wrench and go and found an ex with everything I need. They quoted me $250 for the rear complete and $150 for the front housing complete. Didn't know what a fair or going price was for those units so I thought I'd ask ya'll. Am going to go through them with new bearings, seals, and friction plates anyway so I'll have a pretty good investment in the end. In my younger days I set up ring and pinions primarily for 9" Fords, but did a lot of others also, so that knowledge is still in my old brain somewhere. The price of bearings sure has skyrocketed since I last did this 30 years ago!

If the parts are in good working order, those are very fair prices in your favor.

Around me they are $150, but you have to pull them yourself. I’d say they are fair prices.

Thank you gentlemen for your replies. My 31" tires will be here next week and I guess I'm going to drive it for a while with 3.55 gears. Looking at the rpm/speed calculator it appears the 4.10 gears will be a decent compromise between trail and highway. I don't know if wrench and go will deal or not, but I think I"ll offer a lessor price and see what happens. It doesn't hurt to ask.

I sell 4.10 rear axles for $250-400 depending on miles and open or limited slip so those are good prices

Ridiculous to me. Rear is $100 to $150, front is $75 to $120. Lower end is craigslist/u-pull. Higher end is the we pulls.

It all depends on supply and demand and where you live :)
I have sold 100+ axles so price goes with demand

I paid 250 for the rear 4.10 with limited slip from a salvage yard, and 100 for a low mileage 4.10 front diff on Ebay (free shipping!). The rear would have been cheaper but they charged a $50 core charge. I paid the core charge and then sold my 3.73 rear axle for 250 to a Jeep guy. They love getting a good Explorer 8.8.

Yep. I've still got the front case. Trying to get it sold.
