you will need extensions, a few of them for your 1/2" drive, your 1/2" drive and a breaker bar.

the nuts on the top of the coil retainer stud will be7/8" or 3/4" or larger, I am not sure because on the D35 they are metric.

You will need a jack to get the weight of the truck off the coil.

Why dont you just buy them new? they are like $20 ea, the amount of work you are going to go through isnt all that much normally, but in a junk yard it can be a PITA, if you find some......

The coil retainer nut is HUGE. We had to buy a special wrench just to get it off.

It might be 1-1/8", 1-1/4", Ford likes to use those sizes :)
a wrench can be tricky to use through the coil, a socket with a breaker bar and extensions from the top of the coil bucket is how Ford designed it to be removed.

Tried using a socket w/ an extension, but it didn't work. The wrench is easy. I think it's a 1 1/8. It's ginormous.

The coil retaining nut is 6pt 28mm Deep (but a 1 1/8" is close enough). Bring some Penetrating oil and some propane to heat up the nut (heating the nut for a minute or 2 will burn off any loctite).

on the F-150 they used the 28mm?

My bad...the sizes above are for the Explorer... :D

it could very well be the same stud/part number however

Actually your right man, it was a 28mm deep for the nut on the inner coil, i foud a 92 ford f-150 xlt and they spacers looked pretty new, so i went to town, and i had all the right TOOL's, Thanks to you guys

the dealership wanted 25 a piece...ehh i got these for 8 bucks.. and 45 mins later,

we put them on the 1991 ford ranger single cab, v6 4x4 ,

Huge difforence,

Before SOA stock, with 1 inch block, stock front end with stock crap rims and tires

After 2'' spacers in front with 15x8 crawlers with some 31x10.50x15 tires, looks prety good for Budget lift for a pretty stock ranger, ill post before and after pics tomarrow,

Pics!

I always used a 1 1/8" wrench with a pipe or another wrench for leverage. Those things are a PITA to break loose.
