Well after more than 6 months of wanting subs my father, god bless him, has finally given me the ok to put subs in the X. At first I was thinking I wanted 3 12's but i have decided now to get 2 15's. At first i can only get 1 sub but oh well it well have to do. I was hoping to get your guys's opinion on my selection. I was gonna get an Audiobahn AW1500X for a sub and for an amp i was thinking about an Audiobahn A2800E. I can get both of them from the ZEB with shipping for $306.93 which i think is a pretty good deal? heres the link to them

looks good to me... where in yorba are you at? i live over on the boarder of fullerton and brea off of imperial hwy, maybe we could get together sometime and ill check out your system once you get it. im about to set up my system too.... ive got 2 12 jl w3's off a jl 500/1 amp and i just need to wire it all up. let me know

2 15", that'll be all kinds of loud lol.

I've got 2 JL 12w3s and the 500.1 amp. Sounds pretty damn good in my sealed box. At high volume they do distort on really deep bass hits, but its not bad. Overall i'm very happy... Might throw some more juice to them later once I get a better Alternator. (My gain is set at 3/4 or a little higher)

If you are going to get 2 15"s, why not wait a while longer and get an amp that will be able to run both of them, instead of having to upgrade amps later on down the road? Or better yet, just get an amp now that will produce the right amount of power for one 15" wired a certain way and then also be able to produce more power at a lower impedance for when you get the second sub.

Also, unless I am mistaken, that A2800E is 3 years old. E was the 2000 model year, X was the 2001, and Q is the 2002. Of course now it is almost time for the 2003 models to be coming out. Check eBay and you should be able to find some very good deals on both subs and amps. Just the sound parts of my system (amps, subs, components, cap) retail for about $3200, and I only paid $3200 for my ENTIRE system (all of the above plus wiring, alternator, alarm system, paging system, box/amp rack construction, tools), by using eBay to buy everything possible.

u should know that audiobahn only offers their warranty if u purchase their products from a authorized dealer. if u care about how much money ur initially gonna spend.. buy it on ebay..but if u care about long term use issues.. definately buy from thezeb or other autorized dealers. for some items, thezeb actually has competitive prices with ebay.. for example what im lookin at.. the alum12 on ebay is 119.. and at thezeb is 129. for $10 more. u get the satisfaction of having a valid warranty and being able to return it for any defects without bickering and arguing and traking down the seller.

Audiobahn says that they dont give warrantys unless you buy from an authorized dealer, but its not entirely true. I bought my Audiobahn amp off ebay, and started haveing a couple problems with it, so a 10 minute call to audiobahn and they sent me all the info to return my amp to them and get a brand new one...

Hey Magicfan25, your gains are set kinda high huh? 3/4 seems like alot to me. Do you have any problems with noise or the amp getting really hot? Just curious.:chug:

subs

On ebay everything is so cheap, but is it all quality??? There are 10" Legacy subs for $15.00 each! It says brand new with a 5 year warranty, what's up wit that? Are they going to brake the first time I use them? Do thhey sound horrible? Same with the Audiobahn, or the German Wolfenhag. Anyone bought those products? Please, Info would be great!

Ben

check this out.. 1000watt amp for $77??

well... although your intentions are good... i hope i can make this whole experience a bit more pleasurable..

i am a BIG audio fanatic. with my explorer ive seen many a 2nd and a few 1st place in db drags.. i *(well my brother)* put in 2 12 inch kicker solo baric L7 and a 3200 watt amp..

anyway.. a bit off topic.. but..

the subs your looking at, are reasonably priced, but for the money there are TONS of better performers. personally i would say that with ONE 12 inch infinity kappa perfect running at 300 watts you could CRUSH those two audiobahns.. and ikesound.com has them for super cheap. they have a high level of acuracy, and will provide "spider man" like bass.. they jump between frequencies like a PRO.. not sloppy like a 15. also i'd like to recommend an adire audio shiva. at 125 dollars this sub is the sub to have. it has a good mix of spl *(loudness)* and sq *(sound quality)*. they are hand built by the guys at adire, and will service them for up to a year? *(maybe 2.. not totally sure)*. as for amps, that amp is ok *(the afformentioned audiobahn)* but if you were to want something in a similar price range with more output and better reliability, i would recommend a jbl 600.1. this amp is a very nice amp, 300 watts at 4 ohms, or 600 at two (which would perfectly power either the shiva or the perfect) and is only 205 shipped from ikesound.com. along with all these, i could recommend a set of image dynamics IDQv2. i bought a set for daily driving because in my personal oppinion they are the most tollerable full time subs. ive had them cleanly hit 20 htz and it was DISTINCT.. not muddy like most sloppy street bass. i am STILL hitting 142 db at the dash, which isnt competition loud, but loud enough to make your heart skip beats at the right volume. these subs may run around 150 dollars from the right place, but they are also hand built and very very high quality.

if you have any questions, feel free to email me. no i dont represent any of the companies i mentioned, just trying to keep someone else from buying sub-par products and having a bad experience like i did.

I dont want to offend anyone, but i dont think audiobahn can possibly considered "sub-par", and i dont think theres any way 1-12" can beat 2-15"s ive never seen it happen, and yes i go to Db drags locally, my system isn't complete yet but i can watch and learn.
Ive learned 2 theories in this competition stuff (many more out there)

1-take the power you have, or want and put as much cone space to it as you can

2-stay minimal (my theory) Ive seen Kappa's, my friend has 2-12" powered by an Audiobahn 1800D, and they pound. I'd say just get one 15" and a better amp, somethin that puts out like 500x1 rms @ 2ohms, but keeping it on a budget will be hard. Or maybe get both, and wire them at 8 ohms a piece bridged to a 3201X, the "E" series of audiobahn is 2yrs old.

Anyways this is gettin long, and no im not starting brand warfare

oh i NEVER intended to start any problems.. just offering personal choices.. yeah ALOT goes into install.. like 90 percent of the sound is the quality of the install.. but i have just watched WAY too much bad stuff from audiobahn.. i thought i was offering up a change of pace. and if you havent seen 1 12 beat 2 15s, you havent seen the adire comp truck. 1 10inch brahma that hits 162 db.

custom box

truckinat15- hey if your lookin to get a custom made box for two 15's let me know cause i'm thinking about selling the one i made. you can check it out at the link at the bottom of my signature. im not to far from you, hit me up with a reasonable price and we'll see what we can work out.

Thats a sick box. I would definetly wanna make a deal with you for that but the problem is for right now I will only have 1 sub but i will probably have the second around feb. So i will hit you back when i get the other sub and see if you still have the box. How much were you thinking of selling it for?
