anyone know of or used a pretty good aftermarket alternator? i think im gonna need something in the 200 amp range. im going to be running PIAA's and at least two amps plus foglights. mine is on its downward spiral barely putting out 12 amps while the engine is on with no load on it. i saw the mean green one (240 amp) for like 380 or so. anyone know anything about these or used them?

Most 3G's can be rebuilt to much higher output, you can purchase them off the shelf at most alternator shops. 200A at idle is asking alot, however. My rebuild does about 140A at 1000 and winds up to 180+ at 2000.

Try Mralternator.com. There was a group buy from this company.

ooo yea those alternators are just hwat im looking for in my price range. i appreciate that. i'm just going to assume it will work for my 01 sport 4.0. scratch that..gonna call, assumption is the mother of all @#%&-ups.
