went to a local audio shop today (not crappy circuit city) and they told me they could give me a deal of three 10" crystal subs in a box with sony 1000 watt amp for $650 or one 15" crystal sub in a box with amp for $500. whichever one I get will be well worth the money because my god they made the entire building shake when I put in Juvenile. The subs retail for around $299 a piece so I think I'm getting a good deal. Do you guys think it's worth the price and if so, should I go with the one 15 or the three 10's? Also I have heard the horror stories of sony amps and I brought this up to the guy and he said he has done dozens of installs with sony amps and has not had so much as a peep as far as blown subs or amps. Whattya guys think?

I wouldn't trust any professional audio installer that recommends Sony amps. But that sounds like a good deal.

IMO Sony car audio products are not worth the money. Their Xplod line is a perfect example. You can usually find better products for the same price or sometimes a lot less.

If anyone here likes Sony, I don't have anything against you. Maybe you had a good experience with their products in the past. It's your money, spend it on whatever you want ;)

willfield2: why don't you ask the guy if he can hook you up with a better amp?

sony's amps are crap. if the amp says 1000 watts on it, thats 1000x1 @ 1ohms, if you can find a 1ohm sub, good luck. but my amp is a LOT less than that of the sony, plus its prob better.

I'm a self-proclaimed Sony freak. Every piece of audio or video equipment I own or have ever owned (and that's a lot) with few exceptions has been a Sony. But as you can see in my signature the amp in my truck is an ADS because I haven't heard anything good about their amps, or speakers for that matter. But I doo like their head units and changers. You can't beat them for features.

dont get the sony amp. it will not really put out 1000 watts. and if you push it hard, you will be lucky to get a year out of it (and it will get weaker and less efficient as time goes on). those are great subs, but drive them with a quality amp.

alright I can assume the general consensus is sony amps = crap. What 1000 watt amp can do you guys recommend under $350 ?(thats the price he's selling me the sony amp)

thanx for the input everyone
