99 mountaieer 4.0
for give me i didnt know were to put this so feel free to move it. to start i have a 99 mercury mountaineer with the 4.0 sohc. i have a system and been having a problem at night with the lights on and haveing the bass up with having constant power. gauge goes down and the deck starts cutting out. my question is while i am trying to save for the high output alternator would it be a bad idea to just run a 2 gauge wire from the alternator strait to the battery?

it looks like the stock wire is about a 4 or 6 gauge and runs infront of the block behind the serpinten belt than to the fuse block than finally to the battery. i just want to go from the alternator to the battery with i circut breaker to try and help from the voltage drop.

any thoughts?

How much current does your amp draw?

not sure on the draw but its a 1000 watt mono block. i know i have to upgrade to the high output alternator

B) i would also put a d ual battery kit in an' hook up all your audio to the second battery. my old expedition had that setup an' i never had problems with lighting, audio or engine. :smoke:

What the OP is taking about is part of a "big 3" upgrade. The "big 3" is a GOOD idea for anyone with high current draw. Like with a system. Just search for it, it is talked about many times.

whats the third?
