I ran across an 03 sport trac 4x4 for $800. Has timing rattle and needs front hubs replaced, haven't seen it, but was wondering if it would be a good but, then I could sell my second gen to recoup some money .

Hard to say.

Are you looking to make the repairs yourself or pay someone to do it? What's the mileage? Shape of body/interior? Does the transmission shift firmly?

The price would be right for me.

Post a link for the ad so I can buy it. LOL. Seriously, even with the engine rebuild (if needed) hubs and little misc repairs it's still thousands under blue book. It's pretty much what I've been looking for, too bad it's so far away.

Idk yet, but I can get it fixed with help from family, or I know a few GOOD mechanics that real good friends with, if I got parts and helped them, they wouldn't charger much, but I was thinkin bout trying to get it instead of redoing my second gen I got and getting rd of it, I need something a little newer seein that I drive 70 miles round trip to work a day, and tryin to build a house lol would mustang 4.0 motors fit?

Do a search for 4.0 motors, this same question as just answered a couple months ago on which motors will bolt right in. Message NCRanchero, he's the man that would know for sure. best of luck to yea if you do buy it, that's a money making deal either way you go, if you parted it out you could easily make 6-8 times what you paid for it.

I wouldn't part it out, I'd drive it lol, I've been torn between buying something, fixing my 96 up, or putting all of my income tax on down payment lol don't like last option cuz it comes with note and I wanna finish my house, I actually got to lookin for a reasonably priced sport trac when I ran across it

I'd say go check it out, take a mechanic buddy if possible and buy it, the Job2 4.0 is wAy better than the older Exploder 4.0's. invest a small amount to get it running good and drive it.

Well, still waiting on the owner to email me back with pics, did some research and seems that the newer ranger engine will work, just need to swap some parts from the old engine. I'm wondering if the trans would swap out also, I found a 2005 ranger edge 4x4 wrecked with 83k on it that I might could snatch the engine and trans out of. I also know where a xfer case out of an 03 sport trac with 33k miles is also, maybe i could do some digging around and have a decent rig lol cuz my 2ng gen has over 300k and its showing.
