Good Roof Rack?

I just got my own Explorer and I am looking for my first upgrade for it. Does anyone know of a good roof rack to go onto a 93? I am wanting to put my spare tire, 4 of the off road lights also. Any suggestions???

I have the Surco Safari Rack form EE with my spare, 2 Hella 500's, 2 Hella FF1000's, 2backup lights, and my CB antenna and it's doin' fine. You may have trouble getting 4 lights to fit without making mounts for them, but it's a very sturdy rack.

John, which of the two racks would be better for mounting offroad lights on. Also, how about an aftermarket cam for the SOHC engine

I would say the Safari Rack would be the best for mounting lights to. It seams to be the sturdiest of the two.

The light bracket kit is $29.95 per pair.

There is also a shovel/axe mount kit for $49.95.

We have not dabled in aftermarket cams for the V6 SOHC. I have heard of a company in Germany (the origin of the 4.0 V6) makes a cam. It is not likely that we will do it because we are in California, land of the smog checks. There are other upgrades that you can do to the V6 SOHC that will give you smooth power improvements.

Thanks for all the help guys. JOHN, I decided to Go with the Safari Rack. Where on Explorer Express do you have the light bracket kit a shovel/axe mount kit? I am interesten on putting 4 Hello 500's onto the rack.

The light bracket kit will work for jus about any aftermarket light. You could also fabricate anything you want if required.

I like the PIAA 520. This is a high quality 85w driving light that I have in stock for $174.95 per pair (one pair only at that price).
