Anyone tried these on an ExplorerXLT? Everyone seems to rave about the quiet ride. I currently have worn Cross Terrains and goodyear is letting the tire dealers compare them . All Discount tire dealers that rode the demos said they were superior to the Cross terrain.

I work at Discout tire :D

I havent had the opportunity to ride on them, but from what our customers say they are pretty good and cheaper than the michelins. Very much satesfied

i work for a goodyear and all our customers love them, however most have said the first 1000 miles with them were a little rough but after that they all love them

My dad has them on his '02 eddie and he and i both hate them, they dont seem to stick at all in a corner when it's raining, the back end just steps out without my dad even trying, they r great on dry pavement, but in snow or off road they r horrible

what have you folks heard about the GY SA At? There are only a couple of reviews on Tire Rack but no ratings.

Dont you mean SR-A.... A good all terrain.. Ive seen many dezert racers with them..And for the Fortera Silent armor they are an exellent tire, I too work for good year and hear nothing but good about this tire from our customers, they feature a kevlar layer under the tread to increase cushing and strength... but you have to see the new Fortera Triple tread.. the best tire all weather tire in the market...If you want a All Terrain Look at the Wrangler silent armor, same 3ply side walls as the MT/R and kevlar bands under the tread.....

For snowy, icy and rainy conditions, Goodyear has designed the Fortera Triple Tread. Overall the Fortera silent Armor is currently rated higher than the Michelin LTX

The Wrangler Silent Armor, with the kevelar belts is a really tough tire, but you will not get the smooth ride out of it, a decent All Terrain.

You can't really go by what some one else thinks about pasenger (street)tires. 50% of the people out there have the wrong tire for the type of driving they do. You really have to think about what you need in a tire before you go out and just buy a set. If you do 100% interstate driving, any A/T tire is not designed for you, there are many factors that go into getting the right tire for your specific needs.

A couple of months ago we did a ride and drive at Atlanta motor speedway with goodyear testing out the new Fortera tires. At 38 MPH the Fortera Silent Armor tire started to loos its grip in tight turns in rainy conditions on an SUV...... Much better than most tires out there at this moment. We also have to remember we drive SUV's and not Hot ROds.

I just put them on my 1997 eddie. AMazing to say the least. I got them at the local MAVIS stor for 188.00 each(very pricey but I feel well worth it). They put on the HL Version by mistake and I had a chance to drive around with these for a day while they ordered the Silent Armour Forteras. I thought the HL's were OK. When they put the Silent Armour on I honestly can not believe the difference. It is really is night and day. Much quieter and smoother than the HL's and infinitely better than the Pirelli Sport I had on. I cannot recommend these enough. Granted I've maybe put on 20 miles on them( I live in New york so there are not to many smooth roads) But I believe you will be very happy with these. (I obviously have not tested them in Snow, Rain but on bumpy roads it feels like I put a new suspension on.

My tire size is 275/55/17 on Mustang cobra rims.

Hey Yomie last year did you get to beat up on some audi TT's for the triple tread/ eagle F1 ride and drive... Im waighting to do the Fortera triple tread ride and drive this spring.. see how much better they are than the silent armors..

we didn't get to do the passenger applications.

We did the Fortera series Triple trad on Chevy Avalanches though as well as the Silent armors, Vs the Michelin Cross Terrains The smooth ride comes from a 20% filler that is placed inbetween the steel belt packages along with the Kevelar belt.

I would love to do the F-1/Triple tread passenger line though

I just purchased some yesterday. They were cheaper then the Michelins. I only drove it home yesterday but they seem to ride nice on the street. Haven't had them on dirt yet.
