Has anybody had any problems with these tires?P255 70R16 The tires I have are about 25% worn but I have a rotational noise that I can't get rid of (happens when foot is on gas and vehicle under load but stops when foot is let off but can also hear it when coming to a stop(but not as loud). It is rotational and is a whoop whoop whoop noise) Had the front wheel bearings done , front rotors and pads. Could this be in a tire? Hate to replace them if they are not the problem. thanks Jim

Have you rotated your tires? I rotate mine about every 5,000 miles to keep them quiet. If they have a lot of uneaven wear it may be to late for them.

yup, they have been rotated , and re-balanced.

I don't have any problems with mine yet (7,000 miles on them). However, I wish I had my FIRESTONEs back. I've lost 2-3 MPG going to these darn WRANGLERs. But, that's what you get for free tires. I also run my tires at 40PSI all the time. Have no uneven wear, or noise issues. I also rotate every 5,000 miles.

Those are the tires that came on my explorer first. They had problems just like the ones you were describing. What happened was they became out of round very early....long before the tread was worn out. We had to replace them because the noise was so annoying. That what sounds like is happening with your tires now.

Thanks for the help. Maybe someone could answer this for me. (Rob). If a tire is let's say shot ,should it not make the noise all the time and not just when you are are accelerating or have your foot on the gas and to go away when you let off? But I have never had a tire go out of round so I can't say. But I do have to agree with you Rob that the noise is very annoying. I do however have a question for Rob Slade seeings how he had this problem. Did yours do the whoop whoop whoop noise (almost like a bearing going) while cruising down the road and get less noticeable with the increase in speed and get more noticeable the worse the roads were?

If it helps, I have one of the same tire you are talking about(its brand NEW), and it is for sale! If you want it, make a Reasonable offer, and you pay ths shipping...

I think it is almost like having mud tires. You feel them growl when you slow down and when you speed up, then when you get up to cruising speed, you don't feel the lugs as much. It sounds like that is the case. Maybe they are slightly out of round and you feel it most when you are speeding up and slowing down. Just a thought.

Just my .02 worth. I say dump the BAD YEARS and get some BFG A/T KO's. I personaly think Good Years are just as bad of tires as Firestones.

I guess I will dump the goodyears and find another set. I thank everyone who had input. It is just one of those noises that get to you. I still can't figure it out why it dosen't do it when you let off the gas or put it in neutral and coast but my guess would be that the tire is not under torque and it is not moving upwards toward the body so it is not hitting that spot on the tire. Just a guess, thanks again..Jim

The only other thing I can think of that would make that noise would be the rear differential. I had a noise coming from the rear end that would only happen on the gas. It was a pinion bearing going bad and it was very hard to find. You might jack it up and remove the drivshaft and see if the pinion turns real smooth. Mine had a rough spot in a real small area, but it was growing at a rapid pace. It still might be a good idea to borrow some other tires and wheels to check it out before you make the big purchase.

I liked my goodyears until they wore out. Then I moved to 31 BFGs and saw the light! Honestly though, the RT/S are good for stock tires.
