Ok, so the automatic tranny on the 95 XLT 4x2 is acting up and I need some help. Here are the problems:

1. Has no trouble running through lower gears but has great hesitation into the last gear.

2. On rare occasion it will not **** into drive.

3. O/D Light is flashing

Anyone had these prolembs? Please know that this isn't a constant thing, or at least hasn't been so far. It started acting up today. Advice? Opinions? Any help is greatly appreciated and welcomed.

Thanks,
-Justin

im pretty positive that when your O/D light is flashing your tranny is pretty screwed and needs service.

Check the simple things first. Like how is the fluid level and fluid condition? When was the last time you had the fluid and filter changed?

I've done that, just changed the fluid/filter about about 1000 miles ago when the problem started. The main thing is that it isn't shifting at the correct points. Any possibilities there is a computer/solenoid problem? Any more thoughts?

Check with

Operahouse search by name he may be able to help.

Could be a TPS problem.

So, did it have problems before

you changed the fluid or after you changed the fluid? When you changed the fluid, did it appear dark or burnt, was there a lot of sediment in the pan? Does it change a lot of rpm, like 800 (OD)or just 300 (LOCKUP)? This could be a clogged OD shift solenoid. If you are adventurous, you could drop the valve body and clean it. Don't do it without a manual. Probably the solenoid can only be removed if the valve body is dropped. As mentioned before the TPS could be the problem.

The fluid wasn't in bad shape, but the transmission has a very slow leak, so every couple of thousand miles I'd have to add a bit of fluid. The tranny started acting up, and after reading some, I decided to drop the pan and change the fluid/filter. Well it only seemed to slow the problem down some b/c it happened randomly since then and has only now gotten worse. How much is a new OD or a new TPS?

I'm not even convinced

you have a transmission problem yet. It could just be the ignition breaking down. What is the rpm in OD at 60 mph and what does it drop to? Get the code read if you can.

I know a guy that was having similar troubles. The dealership said it was his PCM.
