Hello all...Zimz here... You could never find the "New Member Forum" from within the forum unless you click the welcome message asking you to do so!! I actually just got the suprise of my life when I was trying to log in, I thought I set up my account a few days ago but never finished it because I couldnt log in. So I did the Forgot Password thingy and then logged in and was mulling around on site when I tried finding my profile is when I got spooked. The date was a God awful day that will remain in history forever. You see I created this account in the morning of the tragic Campfire2018. I created it because I was changing the clutch out on my landlords Ford Ranger and must have had some question. You see I was setting this up when my late wife said from the back deck,"Honey! Something is going on out here-is it supposed to rain?'' Well I got up and went to check and saw the biggest black cloud getting ready to cover the sun. Well needless to say from that point I never finished setting up my account as we fled for our lives-oh btw...I never seen anything like it-that ford explorer...the tranny was in an aluminum case...half of it melted away and I could see all the gears inside...it looked like something out of a section view or blowup of shop drawings...when we went back....I said, "Damn!'' and shook my head! So the one on the left was his thunderbird and the right one is the ranger and if you zoom in I believe the tranny is laying right in front where I left it with the bellhousing closest in the foreground... anyway Im off to the tech section now! different car....

Wow, glad you made it out of there! A huge disaster and deadly. Welcome back to the forum!

So sorry to see that. A good friend on the forum lost his Ranger to a CA wildfire many years ago. :( Just glad you are all safe.

can confirm- it should be renamed fall/fire especially with the santa ana winds in the foothills too (in the la area at least) prime fire weather!

Hey thankyou! What an amazing forum with a bunch of folks that all told me they were glad I made I out! Ok but shhh! That photo was taken from a Chevy S10! Actually the same vehicle I fled in! But we're not allowed to talk about them-lol

I agree! Hey I been down there with a couple guys on a roof working when I looked up and wondered what was going on is it snowing? It was ash! We were in Poway past San Diego and I forgot what its called...but it burns almost every year there where the million dollar homes are!

Thank you! yeah- I cringe at the very thought of those poor folks(the majority being elderly)burning to death! Horrifying and so sad. God Bless each one of them!

Thank you yes a few of my friends lost their vehicles due to not enough drivers!

Thankyou! Yes of biblic proportions. Yet I am dumbfounded that not one playground or kids swing set or slide anywhere burned. Every one I saw was intact with everything around it burned!

Yes, in a previous fire out there, my relative's neighbor had their Porsche literally melt. Thank God my relative had evacuated ASAP. That fire got to the edge of her driveway and got put out.

Welcome. Glad you got out of there safe.
