So I dropped off the explorer today at a local custom truck shop. And had them put in a remote start. I ordered the AviStart(sp) 3200 and they ended up giving me a clifford system, that doesn't work:mad:. Thats not that bad because I'm set up to get it fixed on saturday, now I was just wondering which remote start system was better the Clifford Matrix model:RS or an AviStart 3200 series. I figure that since I ordered the Avi and they gave me a clifford, that if the Avi is better when I go in on sunday I should request the AviStart, or just keep the Clifford. Alright, thanks for any input or replys.

.Whats a DEI bypass, is it the thing with the chip in the key? The guys at the shop seemeed to be pretty dumb founded by that:confused:

EDIT: Oh yeah, what kind of avi do you have?

I'm pretty sure Avitar and Clifford are made by the same parent company. The bypass for the key isn't that bad at all, i wired mine up myself with only the instructions that came with it. There are only 4 or 5 wires that need to be spliced into to bypass it and they are all right together. If they've got it, Viper is the best brand but it sounds like they just aren't installing it right cause my sister has the avitar on her 01 Supercrew and hers works just fine and it uses the same PATS transponder key.

Yeah, they were trying to think of some way to get around the PATS system without using a key, or diaabling it. They can't do this so it's off to the dealership to pick up a new key tomorrow.

If these guys don't know how to get around the PATS key, go somewhere else, because they obviously aren't very knowledgable. I'm going to say that 50% (or more) of the newer cars on the road have a PATS type system that would need to be bypassed. At the custom shop in my town, the first thing they will ask is if you have a black key or a gray key (so they can tell what needs to be bypassed).

Its possible to bypass the PATS system without using a key. You can use this little box that actually programs itself like a key but doesn't require that you buy another $25+ key and the bypass box they will use. Mine is made by crimestopper and is called the PKF transponder bypass i think.

Well its going to be pretty hard to do that now since it has already been paid for and installed.:D haha Just not working correctly, usually this place is VERY good, but for the most part this experience has been pretty disapointing.

Cougar X - Thanks for the suggestion but I have been so pissed about this, that I do not feel like having to order that, plus wait for it to come, then have the shop install it, I'm going to ford and buying a blank tomorrow.
