I just ordered the Yakima "Lift ticket 6" today. Anyone else have one. Or something like it? Any pics?

Here's what I carry with it.

This could be fun!

I have some Thule racks which are cool because they have 'lift kits' for them. They race the rack up a good two inches, that way you can have a board face-down and it won't scratch the roof. I'm very happy with them.

My Yakimas have those too. Even without them, I have just enough room for my board to not hit the roof.

I always prefered thule to yakima. I have used both at one time or another and thule just looks better and is made FAR better IMO. It is also funny to see people try to pronounce thule. (toolie according to the company) Ah well good luck with them. Always buy the fairing. It helps the looks the drag and the noise

I did get the fairing. But then I already posted a picture, so that was pretty much understood. I chose Yakima because they use round crossbars, which are a bit more quiet than the square ones. But now I'm just splitting hairs. The noise really doesn't matter that much in an Explorer, since it is, of course, the epitome of aerodynamics. NOT.

Anyhow, I've always preferred Yakima. Not sure why.

...and I'm going skiing this weekend (well, snowboarding). And hopefully a couple of times next week too.

hey how much did you pay for your fairing?

I have one as well.. i will get some pics later

I have the yakima lift ticket 6. I installed them on my factory racks.
The only problem I have is they whisle at freeway speed.

I think I paid something like $20 for the fairing. I think it's actuially abit more, but I know the owner of the bike shop, and besides, I had just plopped down $3500 for a bike.

The new ones are curved, not rectangular like mine. They changed a lot of stuf after I got mine.

Yeah I don't think I've ever been in anything with a ski rack that didn't though. I was looking at my recipt today and I don't think they ordered the Mighty Mites or what ever they are called to mount it to my roof rack. If they didn't I'm gonna rasie hell and try and get them for free and the fairing thrown in real cheap. I told them I needed it for this weekend and they made a point of asking me if I had the factory rack. So if they didn't they really have no excuse. I work retail, I've learned to raise hell from the best of them.

My rack doesn't whistle at all. I've taken it up to 90,a nd the rack was quiet. Guess the fairing works.

ive got a thule, and to be honest, it whistles with the windows down, but its not that bad. i love it, i can carry 4 snowboards (and thanks to EX 4 people with all their crap) i love the look it adds to my truck and its just solidly made. couldnt tell you how much it cost, they were one of the first things i bought for the ex, but ive even used them for hauling 2 by 4s for my mom. ill get some pics of my truck and what i put on the rack soon

well my rack still hasn't come in. I went in and *****ed at them the other day. Heard back from them today. The rack is back ordered and will ship out January 6th. they didn't order the Mighty Mounts for me but now they are throwing in the Mounts and the locks for me for free. This is mostly becasue I told them to call the Rice shop in town and ask them what I did with my cars. Well I know the owner of that shop and they actually did call. Then they found out I can't stand to have a vehicle that looks like everyone elses and all of a sudden they are bending over backwards for me. Anyway.. My new skis, That right SKIS!!! Should be ready in another day or two. I'll put up the pics once they are finished.

I've got the Yakima with fairing and the only thing that whistles are people admiring it? ;)
I've been pretty satisfied with Yakima, though before the locks, I believe it froze up on me once while skiiing in Maine (but it was -10).
We actually just got snow and I may have to remove a kayak rack and put on the ski rack if more comes. *prays for more snow*

ok another rack question. They told me I couldn't use the fairing with the factory rack, that it only fit if you had the yakima rails. Anyone know differently?

I have Thule racks. They are great. No problems with whistling either

Update on this... I ordered a Thule rack online becasue the yakima was taking too long to get in. I had the Thule 2 days later. It's on the X now. Doesn't look bad, I liked the all black look of the Yakima better but the thule doesn't look bad. I'm in the process of building a front faring for it now. Brackets are done and fiberglass is almost done. If it works I'll post pics. Pics of my rack and what I carry with it should be up tomrrow.
