Ok, well I was on my way to my friend's house tonight and I got into a little fender bender. A guy driving a Dodge Stratus was turning left on a green arrow and I was making a right on red. I didn't see anyone coming in the direction I was turning so I went, and when I did, the guy hit me(or I hit him). The thing that kind of pisses me off is that he should have stayed in the inside lane instead of going on the outside, trying to go around a car (I presume). But then again, I should have paid closer attention. I realize it's my fault, no question about that. There was minimal damage...some to his fender and a broken hubcap, but none to mine, so I got lucky. The only trace of evidence is a streak of white paint on my bumper, which I can easily wipe off.
I ended up getting a $150 ticket for not yielding on a right on red from a very nice highway patrolman in a camaro. Some good did come out of this however:
1.) Our old insurance company sent us a notice in the mail about a day ago stating that we would no longer hold a policy with them after the 31st of this month, because of my brother's countless traffic violations. This means that my insurance on our about-to-expire policy will not go up, and when we do get a new policy, it will be a good couple of months to a year before they find out about my mishap.
2.) No damage to my car...I'd rather pay a $150 ticket than pay for more costly repairs any day. As for the $150 ticket, I'm not going to fight it in court because it's in another county, and I have too much going on the day of the court date.
3.) No one was hurt, and I thank God for that. I always wear my seatbelt. The man upstairs was truly looking over me tonight.
So, I'll keep trying to look on the bright side of things. Stuff like this just happens. This is another lesson learned by this 17 year old...one that I won't soon forget. Everyone be careful, and don't do what I did!
