Got it up and running!

Hey guy's,
I am finally back home from Iraq and I have been working on the X all week. I got the 3" spindle lift on and the 31x12.5x15 thornbirds on with 15x12 series 87 black monster mods on. I also did the euro talilights and clear corners and new headlights. Also a full face bra from explorer express. I also did the indiglo faces w/ the a/c panel. The X looks awesome and on the tire fitment I took the side kick panels off and also did a small amount of trimming on the front spoiler. And now it clears with no problem and I took it out on the trails here, and it hooked up great. I am very impressed. What a difference. Thanks to all the guy's that gave me imput and especially GIJOE and Section525. Thanks to all and pictures will be up as soon as I get the membership done tonite.

Yeah I did alot of work on it to get it up. The damn thing went pretty easy too! Not a problem anywhere. The shackles I bought for the added lift "war153" are up for sale with free shipping. I decided against it and realized I do not need it to clear the tire package. So I did not use them but did try one on for giggles. I did not have to do the TT either. Let me know if anyone is interested in the shackles, they are powdered coated silver, and are unused.

Hey GIJOE,
The ride puts a whole new perspective on my X. I love the new ride. The lift went smooth, the balljoints just popped out with a light tap, along w/ the tie rod end. The front spindles went in easier than the rear springs and shocks. That top shock mount on the rear shocks is a son of a *@%^% to get to. But the whole thing went smooth. Had the lift done in about 5 hours. The tires on and boy what a difference. The thornbirds make it look mad. I just paid for the elite status on this club but does it take a while for activation or did I do something wrong? Let me know so I can upload the pics.

My elite status took about a day to activate.
I have to agree those rear shocks were a pain to get in on the top. But I found that removing the spare made it easier to put them in.
Do your tires make a lot of noise when you are driving?

Yeah I dropped the spare once I got to the driverside shock, there was no other way. And yes the tires sound like a prop plane going down the road. And when I slow down it sounds like it is coming in for a landing. But I like it anyway. My wife agrees on the mean look it gives. I have had several compliments on it so far. GIJOE how will I know when it gets activated?

My friends say that my explorer sounds like a huge truck on 44s coming down the road.
So what is your next mod?

Well I would like to modify a baha bar for the front. And I told my wife to buy the safari rack for the top for me and she said yes. Also I would like to fab a solid axle swap for the front with xfer and all that goes with it. But all I got is time and I am going to be moving to Colorado for good since I am retiring. So hopefully soon that will be going on and then I can start on the projects I desire. But for now I am going to enjoy the new look. Anything new with yours?

I am trying to get a Long Travel Coil-Over kit made for my X. I started a thread on it in the suspension section if you want to check it out. But thats the only thing I am working on right now.

Well let me know how it goes, sounds interesting. I am going to keep looking for a donor vehicle to do my transformation. I just got an e-mail from the club and asked for a photo to put with the club name, so hopefully it will be up soon. I might go to a different gear in the rear. No noticable gear abnormality yet with what I got but soon I do it.

I had to go with 4.56 gears in the rear.

do you have anymore pics (side view) also what the backspacing on those wheels? oh yeah this needs to go in my list of favorites. oops ok sorry didnt realize you had a gallery.

the back spacing is 3.75, and they work great. no rubbing and they stand out pretty good from the fenders. I did remove the kick panel and did about 2 inch trim on the front spoiler. But other than that it works great. I think that the black monster mod wheels look better than the rock crawlers. What do you think? I got the tire and wheel package for 960.00 delivered balanced and all to the door. Not bad. Also how do I get my picture under my name too?
