Got stupid and now my transmission is angry

Went to the mud bog this morning. Everyone was going super slow so I had to show them what's up. Did some jumping and well hauling butt. Left and realized I could only get into 3rd. Very quickly started jumping from 1st 2nd and 3rd. Seems to really like 1st. Pressure washed the engine and trans. Did a visual check, nothing looks broken. And the fluid is a pinkish red. :/ any ideas?

Anybody? Ranger won't be running till Tuesday and I gotta get to work Monday

Guess I should add, popular cause on google seems to be the VSS. However wouldn't the speedo not work if the VSS is bad?

So it shifts fast through all the gears and no overdrive?

You will need a scanner to monitor the computer, you will have to check all the sensors and switches to make sure they are working like they should. I would start by cleaning all connections under the truck.

Only shifts through 1st 2nd and 3rd but I tried driving it cold and when it try's to jump into 3rd it goes back down to 1st. I did pressure wash it so are you saying to pull the electrical connections apart?

Yes, that is about all you can do at this point without a scanner. We don't know if its being commanded to act like this or if the transmission is not able to work like its being commanded.

i would definately, just to make sure they are tight, water free and dry, so you don't get any cross signals. could have easily pulled on a little apart, or shorted one. good luck

Ok I'll check em when I get home. None looked damaged but y'all might be right about the water. I'm hope ya are
