Hey everyone i'm beaming right now...although it took forever to get it all done its done!...it took 8 hours, some ice cream and a lot of work but i got it all done...the custom box c0mplete with plexiglass amp rack covering, fans, distribution blocks, neon, and 2 amps.... and my audiobahn 12......
it sounds fantastic, proabably cuz i missed having it so much...but it sounds good..
its the first time the sub is running cuz its new..so i have the gain at about 1/3 to sort of break it in...

that's good. it's been a long wait.

about the gain setting, and breaking in the sub....

the subwoofer should be played at low volumes for a while (manufacturer recommends about 18 hours of playing). the gain shouldnt have anything to do with it.
also, the gain should be set according to the headunit's output voltage/signal. you should never have the gains cranked up all the way. any headunit that was made in the past five years is efficient enough to produce a clean signal. cranking the gains just produces unnecessary distortion. and it shortens the amp's lifespan (and in most cases, the sub too). my gains are all set to the minimum. my system pounds and sounds great. and my amps are always cool.

#1: congrats on the even 4000 posts.

#2: what kind of setup do you have in your X and do you have pictures of it?

Sounds good, can't wait to see the pictures...

wow, i just noticed that i reached the 4000 post mark.

i'm currently putting a new system in my explorer. i'm busy a lot of the time, so i dont think it'll be finished for a while. so far, i'm going to install:
sony headunit with 5.5 volt preamp outputs
two audiobahn AW1206Q subs
audiobahn 2200HCQ amp for the subs
audiobahn 5.25" components in the kick panels
audiobahn 6.5" three way speakers in front doors
audiobahn 275HCQ amp for all front speakers
audiobahn 6X8" two way speakers for the rear doors
audiobahn 8 volt line driver
audiobahn 5 farad capacitor

that's all for now.
:)

Couple of questions:

How do you like the kick panels? Do they get in your way?

And where did you mount your amps? I'm going to be putting in my own system this summer and I'm trying to figure out what I'm going to do.

Sweet, I'm still debating on a system. I was looking into audiobahn, but now I think I want Alpine Type R's

not at all. and i have a 5 speed manual transmission.

and the subwoofer box will be raised up a few inches. the subs will be rear facing. and the amp rack will be mounted under the sub enclosure, and it will slide out.

Would love to see pictures of both of the systems once they're done and installed and pictures are taken.

Both sound awesome guys.

yep i should have pictures friday 19th, check back then for this pictures they will be bad ass!
