Welcome to Explorer Forum! Glad to see a helper on the forum.;)

always good to have another helping hand around. :salute:

I could use some advice. The tranny is a 4R44E. The intermediete band anchor has come off the strut on the apply side (long story). Some people think it might be able to be put back after removing pan and valve body. I would like to hear if you or anyone you know has personally solved this problem. I also have a post called "4R44E Band Trouble".

band problem

jt how you doing.if it was the overdrive band than yes you could remove the valve body and repair it.
but now you have a problem the only way to fix your trans is to go inside it the band is located below the center support.
im sure the band strut and anchor have most likely both come off.
i`v never been able to fix it by removing the vb.only the od band anchor and strut can be put back in place by vb remove.:(

Stevieraysb, do you have any experience with foreign FWD transmissions, such as the one in the Toyota Camry? I know somewbody which has an interesting problem. They told me that it only goes into reverse with no drive. I stepped on the accelerator pedal, and started shifting from reverse to forward to reverse, then the problem reversed itself! It now only goes into drive without reverse. I suspect a valve body issue. It has super high mileage. I think it's way over 200k on the same transmission. They told me that their old Camry went over 300k until they finally got rid of it with the original transmission.

toyota trans

could you let me know what year the unit is you might want to check the mlps switch if this is a electronic controled unit the switch at the manual lever where the cable goes on the trans.
this has been a common problem on some camery unit.

steve.

Now that you mention it, I saw some smoke in the area on top of the transmission after accelerating it for a few minutes in the area where there was a shift cable. It's the side closer to the battery on the driver's side. It's a 93.

toyota trans

glad to help out let me know how it turns out. i would replace the mlps switch.
