Hey, I'm the FNG.
Searches on modifications ford explorer has led me to this site which looks to have some very knowledgeable and grounded people, so I signed up and here is my intro.
Am a Ford guy because my Dad was, and because I drove his vehicles, helped him with maintenance and repairs of those cars/trucks, and eventually drove some of them after he passed a while back. Back when I was about 10 I'd help with his '77(maybe 76?) Bronco and then later a '80 International Scout II that I got to drive during High School. I still remember how roomy it was in the engine compartment and the metal dashboards. He was of that greatest generation, and I glad to have learned what I have from him. He was a former Army, also was an aircraft mechanic; he passed his importance of preventive maintenance on to me, and I do my best. I'm far from a mechanic, but can do minor stuff. But these days, its getting to be harder to do that with where/how things are located so tightly on vehicles now.
I bought my Explorer new in 2013 and really like it. I currently want to get more power out of it, and see what other modifications were possible I could do myself, but also am on the lookout for issues as my miles creep up and I'm coming out of warranty.
I'm currently enjoying almost 70k and no issues, and the same level of driving I did when new. Thanks for the site, and I'm looking forward to reading and posting.

The only mod I've done - 2" Memory Foam Twin sized foam mattress, blanket w/ water blocking sheets and a washable sleeping bag over the top for hauling my two Labradors to the park. I don't carry people much, so the 2nd and 3rd row seats are usually down.
