1995 explorer has a grinding feeling in the gas pedal when accelerating from stop. No noise, just a grinding feeling. Feels like it is holding back. Also speedometer sensor is not working. Are these related problems?

Did your speedometer stop working at the same time you noticed the grinding? If so, it's 99% likely related. Is your transmission shifting funny? Because if it is, that's probably the grinding you're feeling. It's the gears grinding. The transmission is electronically controlled, so when it doesn't know the right speed, it chooses the wrong gear for your speed/throttle input. And because certain gears only work at certain speeds, the computer is most likely forcing the transmission to shift into these gears, causing them to grind in the first place.

Not sure if they started at the same time, but I always felt they were related.
I scheduled to have the speedometer repaired. Hopefully that
willl take care of the grinding.
Thanks for the reply. Will keep all posted.

Had the sensor replaced, but the speedometer is still sporadic. Sometimes it works, although it doesn't seem to be accurate. Other times it doesn't work at all and that is when I feel the grinding.
Mechanic said if the sensor didn't work, the next step would be to go into the dash
To try and repair, which would be a considerable amount of labor.
I can live without the speedometer, but the grinding concerns me, and they seem to be related.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Try shifting it manually..I don't they are related.
