I get a grinding type noise at around 2000 rpm in first and second gear. it is silent in nuetral so that leaves me to believe its the tranny. I hear it reflecting of of parked cars and buildings. it sounds like it is coming from directly under the car in between the front driver and passenger seats.

Thanx alot you guys are always a big help

Search for 00M12 and 01M01 if you have the SOHC. If you do have the SOHC, its about 90% sure the timing system.

If you dont, check your heat shields on your cats.

If it looks like a duck and sounds like a duck ;)

4x4 or 2x4?
