I will hear a grinding sound when engaging the starter only after the vehicle sits for 2 days. (Park on Monday and try to start on Wednesday for example)
I'm not sure if it's related but...
I will also hear a grinding sound when the rear wheels slip when the pavement is WET. For example, when stopped at a stop light, the light turns green, jam on the gas and as you cross the painted section of the pavement, the wheels will slip and you will hear the same type of grinding sound.
Could it be a flywheel problem?
