driving the explorer today my wife noticed there was some slight grinding, next thing it was making a clunking sound from the right front tire.. we left the car in a lot tonight, to have it towed tomorrow.. but if you even let the truck roll, it makes this sounds along with a jerking feeling.. any idea what this might be?

Does the sound change or go away when you press the brake pedal? Does it change when you turn the wheel? Is it worse when you go over a bump?

well, I had the drivers side wheel bearing done.. 375.00 the constant grinding is gone, but now it still makes a popping sound, they told me it's the front driveshaft, not the cv joint. so now thats being installed tomorrow.. that better be it.. I spent more money on this truck in 1 month than I care to say.. I bought my towncar new in 99 still have it with not 1 problem ( still looks like the day I bought it)... the wife is going to have to get rid of this truck if I hear the word transfer case..

more money

well, spent another 550.00 for a driveshaft!!!!!!!! add the 375.00 for the wheel bearing = 925.00 piece of crap!!! so now the dam thing is nearly perfect. (thats a laugh) I was driving behind my wife when she took a sharp right corner kinda fast, and I noticed the passenger wheel look like it was wobling... took the truck to the parking lot did some figure eights at a good speed, didn't feel anything, but I notice when driving there is a very slight shake in the wheel, and when backing up it feels like the passenger front wheel is dragging a bit... it only does this if I drive for a while and then go in reverse.. any clues on what this might be???????????????????????????????

Inner Tie Rod

Jack up the front end and pull and push on the wheel like your trying to turn it. If it has slop then the inner tie rods may be shot. Pretty sure thats what it is on mine, checking it tonight. If you drive down a rough road it will feel pretty sloppy and pull around on you...........
