- 1999 Mercury Mountaineer
Hi guys. I had researched this problem a couple of months ago and I found a couple of solutions to try -- but then life happened and I had to take care of other things.
Now that I want to tackle this again, I can't recall the exact searches I had done, and I'm not finding the information again (it may very well have come from this forum somewhere).
Here's the issue:
I have a 1999 Mercury Mountaineer 5.0 V8.
If I travel at highway speeds for any length of time (say more than a half hour), I get grinding and sometimes even rear wheels locking up when coming down to slower speeds and taking corners.
I have ZERO issues at all except after traveling at high speeds for any significant length of time.
Under normal driving, I can u-turn the truck on a dime with zero grinding, smooth as can be.
After time on the highway, a gentle curve feels like the truck wants to come apart, and a tight turn causes the rear tires to chirp as the back end locks up.
Thoughts?
