Groaning Front End

1998 Explorer XLT AWD
My 98 AWD XLT makes a groaning sound in the front end area evertime I go slowly over a speed bump or something. It's not a lound groan, but a groan nonetheless. I also notice that my front wheels go in at the top. I shook my wheels and I didn't get any movement so I don't think it's the balljoints or tierods. I also notice that when taking turns, if I hit a bump, my back end actually slides over a bit. Is this normal?
