Should my brake rotors already be grooved? I have never had a vehicle that the rotors grooved like this before unless I let the pads get really worn and low. Vehicle has 15K miles on it. Could this be related to the brake squeal TSB? reason I ask, is that a couple times in the morning when its cold, I get a slight squeal, but nothing like others have reported, it only happens breifly and goes away. My concern is more with the wear of the pads and grooved rotors. I certainly do not want to be replacing rotors prematurely. You can physically feel the grooves when you run your fingers across the rotor, almost like running them across a concrete sidewalk that has a broom finish. All 4 rotors have the same grooving with one of the rears being slightly worse.

Depends on the environments you drive in. If there's a lot of sand, dust and so on, then the chances of a "groovy" rotor increases. But FWIW, rotor's don't cost that much - typically $40-$60 and can definitely be done on the driveway (but you also have to replace the pads when you replace the rotor so add that cost too).

Daily driver on local roads and freeways in Southern California. Never been off an asphalt or concrete road.

Replacement isn't an issue as I have done hundreds of pad/shoe and rotor replacements. I just don't want to have to do it so soon on a new vehicle if I shouldn't have to. Are OEM rotors and pads not part of the standard bumper to bumper 3y/36K warranty? I have only had the vehicle for 9 months and it just seems premature to have them grooved this much already.
