Last night on a snowy backroad I tried to engage my electronic switch button for 4 wd. I was only travelling about 50kph (30mph) After pushing the 4x4 button on the dash there was a loud growl type of sound and I thought I could feel some form of vibration coming fromm the legt or driver side at the front.
The 4 wd system was not engaged as the vehicle was slipping a little on the road and I only had rear wheel drive traction, not 4 wheel traction. Also, there was a yellow "Check Engine" light brightly lit up to the left of the driver position at about the same level as the steering column. I stopped the vehicle, put it into neutral and pushed the 4x4 button to disengage 4 wd. I started moving again & in 2 wheel drive the noise went away. Any ideas what happened ?? Thanks for any advice.
