Gt-40 to GT-40P

Well my truck is about to hit 141k. She still pulls good and all but i was poking at the idea of just swapping the engine instead of getting a rebuild. Now for the swap i wonder if anyone can tell me if a swapped in a gt-40p motor from a late 97 or newer ex or mounty, what issues will i run into? Can i just swap out the exhisting computer with the one that had the "p" engine? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

You can swap in a motor with the P junk. You'll just have to keep your current upper and lower (if you have internal EGR), swap the CMP, and might as well swap the CKP. That is what I did. I have a '99 in mine.
