They make shorties but do you already have an intake and a tune?

Headers for a 4.6 are not cheap the headers for my mach1 are 1000 give or take so 500 is not that bad.

I am hoping that is for long tubes. if you paid $1,000 for shorties someone made lots of money off of you.

KOOK"S long tubes I still can bring myself to spend that 1000 but they are in the works.

I'm almost tempted to bring my mounty down to kooks and see how much they want for a custom set of long tubes, it's a 15min drive from my job.

KOOKS does great work if you have the money I would go for it.

I think when i called them on my 02 build a month ago it was either $1500 or $2500, it wasn't cheap...honestly with the way the frame & motor mounts are, i see long tubes being very difficult to fab

Found email from chris over at kooks in april and this is what he had quoted as a base price "Stainless Steel would be $2250, mild steel would be $1750."

WOW that is alot of money I am not sure if it would be worth paying
that for maybe 20-30 hp

your not going to get 20-30hp try way less. headers on a relatively stock motor are a waste of time and $. That $ can be better spent elsewhere. The oem manifolds arent realy all that restrictive. Put a catback on it and get a tune. For 1750 you could find a used blower setup

I bet that I will gain 20-30 hp on my 4.6

$1,000 bucks for Kooks long tubes is reasonable.

+500 plus for a pair of shorties that might gain you 5hp. No Way

We gain 20-30 with the torque monster headers (shorties) on our 302's so it's not out of the realm of possibilities. But it helps that we have what are probably some of the worst stock exhaust manifolds ever designed:(

True on the pushrod 302, mod motors are alittle different, you'll gain about 25-35hp/tq on 2v the with a full exhaust with long tubes over stock, after that the restriction is more in the heads, the 3v's pick up some but not as much the most your going to see with Long tubes, midpipe & a catback is roughly 20-25rwhp & 25-30rwtq...

for 1000+$ i could put that towards alot more performance than 20 hp. then you have to figure your not getting the full 20-30hp until you built a full exhaust thats another 1000+$. thi guy spent probally maybe a little over 2000$ and hes running 13s http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2rSr6p5uqLo&feature=related
and the 2v is bone stock 9 psi

Unless he did a JY turbo setup with ALL his own fabrication then there is no way in hell he only did it for $2k. Still a pretty impressive Mounty. Sounds like a remote turbo setup. I am glad to see more people doing custom forced induction on their 3rd gens.

Is that Mounty owner a member here?
