Hey-

Im looking at trading in my 17s for 20s.... I cant remember what my truck came with stock (235 x 70 or 75 x 15)..... Now I have 275x55x17 and the tire is too tall. messing up my gear ratio.

I am thinking of going with a 275x35x20-

was wondering what tires you all have with 20's??

What you'll find is that most of us have the 275-45-20 Goodyear Eagle II tires because they are so close to stock height and they aren't too expensive either.

As far as ride, I love it, they are smooth, quiet, and much more grippy than my stock Michelins were. Plus, I've heard that these have a decent treadlife on them too.

thanks for the info but those i believe are going to be to big for mine.

My stock tire is about 27.8 - 28" tall. Right now the tires I have one it ar 29.1" tall..... they really mess the gearing up. I had my 245x45x17 tires off my mustang on my truck and I loved the power i gained. These were only 25.xx" tall and I ran really high RPMs on the highway.

So if I go with the 275x35x20s they are around 27.6..... very close to my trucks stock size and even gearing me down just a little which is great!..... the only problem is the tires are twice as much each.... but i have a hook up-

what size tires come stock on a 01 sport??

most of you guys with 20's have sports.......

hey pur, my stock xlt came with 235/75/15 which is 28.87 inches tall. if u went wtih 20s, the 265/45/20 is 29.38 inches tall. im not sure if that will make a huge difference, but if ur sayin 29.1 for ur 275/55/17, i got the calculations to be more like 28.9. maybe u got the 235/70/15 which are 27.9 inchs tall. why dont u get the hypertech programmer and change the tire size measurenments to make it more accurate. they have one for your year.. but not mine :p

My sport came stock with 235-70-16....which is 28.95 inches in diameter

The 275-45-20 are 29.74 inches in diameter....

so I only have a difference of 0.79 inches, not enough to really mess anything up if you ask me.

Yours, on the other hand, might actually be better off with the 275-35-20

Its hard to say

the thing is I dont want to go any larger then that 275/55/17 which is right around a 29" tall tire..... If I was to go with the 275/45/20 I would be almost at 30" tall. The 29" tall tire I have now is gearing my truck to high and making it doggy. If I stay or go down to a 275/35/20 it will gear my truck lower like I want..... I was just saying that the 245/45/17 25.xx" tall tire was too small..... looked goof and geared the truck way to low.

My truck came with 255/70-16s and runs on 265/50-20 Falken STZ/01s

I think i decided on the Michelin 4x4 diamaris street/sport truck tire in 275x40x20. They are a little shorter then the 275x45x20.

the michelins should be the same height has the stock 235x75x15s that came on my truck.
