I've searched the boards, and found a couple threads on it... and Google'd for a while, but figured I'd ask here too :). Sorry if the topic's been beaten to death and I just haven't found it.

I plan on picking up one of those, not sure which yet... sister in law works at a body shop and is giving me a free hood to practice with.. paint is suffering from "minor" oxidation she says, :)

Any thought on which one of those two would be better? One has the hook & loop (velcro?) backing pad already, other doesn't appear to..

Where could I find pads for either buffer? Probably somewhat mild cutting at most... I'm sure I could dig up a few more hoods if I needed to for practice before I actually use it on my own truck.

I realize that the life expectancy of either probably isn't very long, but if it'll do the job even once or twice (after I practice) I'd be happy with it lol.

Upon some more looking around, I'll probably give the HF w/ velcro backing pad a shot... seems to be more popular from what I can find.

I'll *probably* grab this BP: http://www.superiorcarcare.net/meguiars-w64-backing-plate.html

And... not sure on pads still. I heard Lake Country (I think?) is good stuff...

Lake Country is the detailers' choice on most major detailing web sites. You cannot go wrong with them, based on the reviews of others.

Personally, I've used Sonus with great success, but they offer only a limited line in the SFX series.
